Tofu Soboro Don

 

(Tofu Soboro Bowl)

 

Ingredients

1 container Firm Aloha Tofu

4 tablespoons sugar

4 tablespoons soy sauce

4 tablespoons mirin

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

salt to taste

finely julienned paper-thin egg omelet, and snow peas

Cooking Directions

1.  Drain tofu well.  Place tofu in a clean net (a fine-mesh net such as a harusame net- See below) and squeeze tofu out of the net into a bowl. 

2.  Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat, add tofu and sauté while stirring with a whisk or 4-5 Japanese cooking chopsticks, and evaporate the moisture of the tofu. 

3.  When the tofu becomes crumbly, add all of the remaining ingredients and sauté until the liquid is gone. 

4. On top of rice, lay out Tofu Soboro, finely julienned paper-thin egg omelet, and snow peas (blanched and finely julienned) for colorful presentation.

Please utilize Soboro Tofu as an ingredient for gyoza, omelet, pizza or croquettes
